Subject :- Revision of Prices of Ibuprofen, Erythromycin Stearate and Erythromycin Ethyl Succinate under DPCO 1995

The NPPA, has revised the prices of bulk drugs Ibuprofen from Rs.442/- to Rs.365/ per Kg, Erythromycin Stearate from Rs.3488/kg. to Rs. 2604/kg. and that of Erythromycin Ethyl Succinate from Rs.5714/kg. to Rs.4392/kg. wide notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary SO No. 1124(E) and SO No. 1125(E) dated 17.11.99. These revised prices are 17.42%, 25.34%, and 23.14% lower than the current notified prices of Ibuprofen, Erythromycin Stearate and Erythromycin Ethyl Succinate respectively. A copy each of the notification is enclosed. The revision in the prices of these drugs have been made based on available information with NPPA. Whereas Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, Erythromycin is an antibiotic used in the treatment of respiratory tract infection.

These revised prices shall be made effective within 15 days from the date of this order as required under sub paragraph (1) of paragraph 14 of Drug (Price Control) Order, 1995. The necessary price-list should also be issued as required under sub-paragraph (3) of paragraph 14 of the Drug (Price Control) Order, 1995. All the manufacturers of the formulations utilising these drugs in their scheduled formulation are advised to follow the provisions of DPCO, 1995 with regard to pricing of the derivative formulations.
