As per NPPA's notification S.O.No.134(E) dated 2.3.95 SSI units are exempt from fixation of price under para 8 of DPCO, 1995 subject to conditions stipulated in the order though they have to follow ceiling prices fixed under para 9 of the order. However, there is general suspicion that many organized sector companies including MNCs are misusing the above exemption order. Based upon examination and action taken by NPPA, the Industries Department, Govt. of Maharashtra has cancelled the registration of a SSI unit. NPPA has issued a press note on this subject.
