The NPPA has fixed/ revised the prices of 19 Ciprofloxacin based formulation packs on 25th November, 2003. Ceiling prices have been fixed for the first time for 15 packs. The ceiling prices are applicable to all manufacturers except for M/s. Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. While fixing theses prices the notified price of bulk drug Ciprofloxacin Hcl at Rs.4190/kg notified on 20.3.1997 vide No.S.O.227(E) has been taken into account. The Government/ NPPA had already fixed 19 ceiling prices for various other formulations of Ciprofloxacin in the past.
Ciprofloxacin is a quinolone group of Anti-biotic, active against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms. The formulations are used in treatment of various infectious diseases of UTI, respiratory, ENT, Eye, Skin etc.
The prices have been fixed/ revised in accordance with the provisions of the DPCO, 1995. The prices fixed/revised would become effective within 15 days and the manufacturers are required to issue the revised price list in Form-V to NPPA, State Drugs Controllers and Dealers.
